Frequently Asked
Everything you might want to know.
What is Ner Shava made from?
Our signature Shabbos line, tea lights, Yahrtzeit, Havdalah, Chanukah, Pesach and Yom Kippur candles are made from 100% pure beeswax. We also make a handmade paraffin Shabbos line — Ner Yufa — as an everyday option.
Why beeswax instead of paraffin?
Beeswax burns with a warmer, more natural light, it holds its shape, and it leaves your leichter clean. It is also the traditional choice — a ner shel shaava is what the name Ner Shava means.
How long do the candles burn?
Our Shabbos candles come in four, five and seven hour burns. Yahrtzeit candles run 26 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours or a full seven days. Ma-Nishtanu Seder candles burn 8–9 hours, or 14–15 hours in the large size.
Do the candles drip or smoke?
No. Our wicks are chosen and placed so the candle burns clean and stays put — even in a draft from an open window or an air-conditioning vent.
Where are Ner Shava candles made?
